Primavera P6 EPPM
Primavera is a project planning and control program developed in 1983 by two engineers, Joel Koppelman and Dick Faris. Primavera software was developed by Primavera Systems Corporation until Primavera was acquired in 2008 by Oracle.
Oracle Primavera is a project management program that is widely used in the world, especially in engineering, construction, and defense industries.
With Oracle Primavera software, project management, product management and control capacities are made. It also integrates with ERP software such as Oracle Primavera, Oracle EBS and SAP.
Primavera P6 EPPM 18.8
We need Oracle database and Weblogic to install Primavera P6 EPPM 18.8. EPPM application needs application server for deploying its application and serving as web application.
EPPM application needs also database for storing applications data, it uses Oracle, SQL Server databases.
To install Oracle database you should read the following article. You can install Enterprise edition, standart edition and Express edition, it is up to your Oracle license.
You should choose following components during Oracle database installation.
- Oracle Text
- Oracle Multimedia
- Oracle JVM
- Oracle XMLDB (XDB)
- Oracle XML Developer Kit (XDK)
To install Weblogic server you should read my article.
If you install weblogic server and Oracle database with above links then you can start installation of Primavera EPPM.
As with all Oracle products, Oracle Primavera software is downloaded from Edelivery as follows
Unzip all folders and go to …P6_R188/Disk1/install directory, lets go to execute runInstaller.sh and start installation.
Specify Oracle Home path, it should be empty directory.
You should choose which components will be install, i just need only EPPM installation so I choose only first check box.
Specify JDK Home in this step, you must install JDK in Weblogic Server installation step.
Installation summary is like following screenshot. if all things are correct then Click Install button.
