I will explain how to patch Oracle EBS Online with ADOP tool ( Application DBA Online Patching ) in this article. Let’s review the ADOP ( R12.2 Online Patching ) in Oracle EBS

 

ADOP ( R12.2 Online Patching ) in Oracle EBS

 

Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) patching has changed with 12.2 onwards. Because Oracle introduced 3 different file systems with 12.2. These are fs1, fs2 and fs_ne.

Usually fs1 is run edition and current used file system. fs2 is a file system which is a copy of fs1 but it is called patch edition. With Oracle 12.2, you can apply patch to fs2 and then switchover or cutover and change file systems. Thus, downtime will be minimum.

 

ADOP (Application DBA Online Patching)

With the ADOP (Application DBA Online Patching) tool that comes with 12.2, patching is now easier and with minimal downtime. The steps for patching with ADOP are as follows.

 

 

let’s start apply any EBS patch ( 23615130 ) step by step with ADOP tool.

 

 

Oracle EBS Patch via ADOP

EBS patch 23615130 is downloaded from Oracle support and upload to the $ PATCH_TOP directory.

 

Firstly run Prepare step like following.
