Sometimes You can get “RMAN-10003: unable to connect to target database ” error.
Details of error are as follows.
RMAN-10003: unable to connect to target database
Cause: Recovery manager was unable to connect to the target database.
This message should be accompanied by other error message(s) indicating the cause of the error.
Action: Ensure that that the target database is started, and that the connect string is valid.
RMAN-10008: could not create channel context RMAN-10003: unable to connect to target database ORA-28000: the account is locked
This error is related with the RMAN Channel, or username password. To solve this error, check your Catalog and source database RMAN username and password,
Or You can clear the RMAN Channels as follows.
RMAN> CONFIGURE CHANNEL 1 DEVICE TYPE DISK CLEAR; old RMAN configuration parameters are successfully deleted RMAN> CONFIGURE CHANNEL 2 DEVICE TYPE DISK CLEAR; old RMAN configuration parameters: CONFIGURE CHANNEL 2 DEVICE TYPE DISK CONNECT '*'; old RMAN configuration parameters are successfully deleted starting full resync of recovery catalog full resync complete
