Oracle RAC Step by Step Installation on Linux -3

Hi,

I will continue to explain the installation of Oracle RAC ( Real Application Cluster ) on Linux which is High availability solution of Oracle in this tutorial series.

Oracle 11g or Oracle 12c installation files are downloaded from support.oracle.com or edelivery.oracle.com and unzip files.  runInstaller is executed as follows and the following steps are followed.

 

 

Skip Software updates like following.

 

In this step, the Cluster installation is chosen as follows.

 

Choose Advanced installation.

 

 

In this step, the cluster name, scan name and Scan port are typed.

The scan name should be a name that resolves 3 IPs on the DNS server and they must be registered on DNS Server.

 

 

In this step, the other node of the Cluster is added as follows.

 

 

 

Passwordless SSH Connectivity is establishing between the selected nodes.

 

In this step, the public and private network interfaces are chosen. Public Interface is used for the host ip, virtual ip, scan ip.  Private Interface is a network that is special for both servers and perform interconnect and hearbeat.

 

 

Choose ASM for Storage.

 

 

In this step, the disk group to be installed on the Cluster are chosen as follows. This disk is the ASM disk created in the previous article. All datafiles and other database files will be kept on this Disk group.

 

 

 

Choose redundancy as External, if you don’t know Oracle ASM and redundancy, read following article.

Type Oracle passwords.

 

Select operating system groups like following.

 

Type Oracle home like following.

 

The problem of NTP and resolv.conf is solved and  the fix & check again button is clicked and continue with next in this step.

 

 

 

 

In this step, the root.sh scripts are executed on rac01 and rac02 respectively.
