ORA-19612: datafile not restored due to missing or corrupt data | ORA-19870

I got ” ORA-19612: datafile not restored due to missing or corrupt data | ORA-19870  ” error in Oracle database during the RMAN Incremental backup and Merge into copy backup.

Details of error are as follows.

ORA-19870: error while restoring backup piece /zfs/msdb/msdb_incr_c08/82vt0ulh_1_1
ORA-19612: datafile 161 not restored due to missing or corrupt data

ORA-19870: error while restoring backup piece

This ORA-19870 ORA-19612 errors are related with the corrupted datafile backup or corrupt datafile.

Firstly Check if the backup piece is corrupted ?

RMAN> list backuppiece '<original piece name>';
RMAN> validate backupset <BS Key number>;

 

or Original datafile is corrupted in database ?

RMAN> validate datafile 161;

 

Mostly the corruption exists in the backup pieces, if the corruption is in the backup piece, then you need to take backup of related datafile again.

If the problem is in the datafile of database and there are block corruptions in this datafile, then use the following post to check and repair the corrupted blocks.
