ORA-14086: a partitioned index may not be rebuilt as a whole

I got ” ORA-14086: a partitioned index may not be rebuilt as a whole ” error in Oracle database.

 

ORA-14086: a partitioned index may not be rebuilt as a whole

Details of error are as follows.

alter index MSDBA.TEST_TABLE rebuild parallel 32;
Error at line 1
ORA-14086: a partitioned index may not be rebuilt as a whole

 

 

 

 

This ORA-14086 error is related with the Partitioned index.

 

To solve this error, you need to rebuild all partition as follows.

 

select 'alter index '||index_owner||'.'||index_name||' rebuild partition '||partition_name||';' from dba_ind_partitions where index_name='INDEX_NAME';

 

 

OR You can rebuild all UNUSABLE partitioned index as follows.

 

select 'alter index '||index_owner||'.'||index_name||' rebuild partition '||partition_name||';' from dba_ind_partitions where status='UNUSABLE';
