ORA-00312: online log 5 thread 1

I got ” ORA-00312: online log 5 thread 1 ”  error in Oracle database.

Details of error are as follows.

SQL> alter database open resetlogs; 
alter database open resetlogs
*
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00392: log 5 of thread 1 is being cleared, operation not allowed
ORA-00312: online log 5 thread 1: '/data/DEVECI/redologs/o1_mf_5_g11qrjms_.log'
ORA-00312: online log 5 thread 1: '/data/DEVECI/redologs/o1_mf_5_g11qrjoz_.log'

To solve this problem, you can clear related online log group like following.

You should change group number according to your environment.

SQL> alter database clear logfile group 5;

Database altered.

Or Sometimes you may need unarchive it, you can execute following script to solve.  You should change group number according to your environment.

SQL> alter database clear unarchived logfile group 1;

Database altered.

SQL> ALTER DATABASE CLEAR UNARCHIVED LOGFILE GROUP 1 UNRECOVERABLE DATAFILE ;
