Hi
I will continue to explain What is the Storage Server in the Oracle Exadata in this article.
Read previous articles before this article.
I will continue to explain how to administer Storage Server via cellcli tool.
You can query status and features of each Cell Server as follows.
Cell Services are also known as Cell Daemon (Celld) on the operating system. If this service is up on Storage server, the magic features of Cell Server and Cell are also active and available. If it is not up, it means that only Physical Server is running.
You can stop, start and query Celld ( cell daemon ) like following.
Don’t forget that stopping this service is done during Server Reboot or power off.
No action can be made in Cellcli when the Cell Daemon (Celld) is stopped. In short, the Cell Server is offline in this case.
Once again, we can performs same tasks when celld was activated, and the cell disks can be queried as seen below.
we can start and stop specific services with the following command
CellCLI> alter cell shutdown|start|start services MS|RS|CELLSRV|ALL
As it will be remembered from my previous article, each Cell disk consisted of 12 disks of equal size.
The first 2 Disks (LUN) are also used for Exadata Software and OS, so the first 2 luns are known as System LUN.
You can list of luns like following.
You can query the details of lun like following.
The first 2 luns’ isSystemLun feature is TRUE and other Luns are FALSE as shown above.
